Fashion design is a form of art dedicated to the creation of lifestyle fashion products like footwear and its accessories. Modern fashion design is divided into two basic categories: haute couture and ready-to-wear. The haute couture collection is dedicated to certain customers and their products are customized to fit these customers exactly. Ready-to-wear collections are standard sized, not custom made, so they are more suitable for large production runs. THE K HANDMADE FAMILY FACTORY, founded in January of 1999 and based on the idea that solving global Ready-To-Wear and Haute Couture designer’s problems, provides you with no minimums requirement, made to order, handcrafted skill, world class quality and service, who also have its own R&D core to do design, development, manufacturing and quality control for global Ready-To-Wear designers.
Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social attitudes, and has varied over time and place. Designers conduct research on fashion trends and interpret them for their audience. The fashion design industry is one that is ever-changing, requiring those who enter this field to hold a certain set of skills that are adaptable. To finish a perfect fashion design that caters the end users, it requires the joint efforts of designers and manufacturers, here are some key points for you to become a good designer first:
Make a plan for yourself that includes a series of steps that are realistic to achieve and then move forward by deciding your focus, keep track with the fashion trends in the world, find inspiration and develop your designing styles. Bring your ides to reality.
It is necessary to get a degree, a degree can help you develop skills and contacts that will be useful for succeeding in the industry. At minimum, it is important for shoe designers to understand color theory, have a basic knowledge of cutting and sewing, pattern making, and fashion sketching. Designers must also be familiar with the fashion industry, have a broad knowledge of textiles and materials used in making different kinds of shoes and accessories, and understanding of shoe engineering, illustration skills, proficiency with CAD software programs, and modeling software, strong marketing skills, knowledge of trends within the industry, and of all the different kinds of footwear on the market today.
Do research on finding a good, reliable manufacturer who can produce your designing products with high quality. Start attending fashion shows, openings, trade shows, trunk shows, professional gatherings and so on to introduce both yourself and your design to people. Partner with a boutique or shop that has an aesthetic to complement your shoe design style and sell them to customers. Set up an online shop, either through your own website or through a storefront website.
A shoe designer must use their knowledge of various fashion trends, different types of materials and design techniques to conceptualize and develop their own footwear designs. Moreover, shoe design surveys a range of footwear, from technology-packed sneakers to 3D-printed pumps and artistic wearings, showcasing a range of innovative projects and the diverse materials employed in their design.

Here are our service for designers:
1. TECH PACK
Together, the shoe designer and our factory will create a detailed ‘tech pack’ or a set of specification drawings or for the new shoe design, which detail every part of the shoes from the upper to the outsole bottom, including the name of each shoe part, the material, thickness, and color. The spec also includes the shoe last information, logo art, design details, emboss effects etc. Sometimes it may include sample shoes, material swatches, photos, or any other notes to help build the samples. The shoe development spec may be e-mailed, sent by courier service, or hand carried by the developer to the factory.
2. SHOE LAST
Before a shoe can go into production it needs a last. This is the physical basis on how your shoes are made, because it is a mould that emulates a foot to give the shoe its shape. Traditionally these were carved from wood but now plastic and metal are also used. Every left and right shoe needs a last so its shape and size can be determined. But a last is no vaguely foot-shaped lump of wood and there are a number of things to take into account when creating one, including how a foot rolls when one walks and how this will affect factors such as heel height. Later in the shoe making process the last is placed inside the shoe so it can be modeled around it. It is used again once the shoe is almost finished to make sure the end ft matches the original design.
3. 2D PATTERN MAKING
Pattern making is the process of creating the ‘Project’ of the shoe upper made by the various parts of upper and lining. Pattern making also extends to other components, such as the insole, heel and wedge covers or other components in case of particular shoe constructions. The pattern maker need to hand sketching the shoe design line on shoe last or on paper and convert it into a series of 2D shapes, which we call it pattern pieces. Pattern piece is essential during whole shoe making process. Initially, patterns are made in one size (the sample size) for prototype only and then they are ‘graded’ (made smaller and bigger) to cover the full size range of shoes for SMS sample or production. It is important to say that only the size of every piece will vary, while the design will never change. Prototype sample will be made after pattern finished. It is a trial sample for fit, pattern and construction checking. Prototype sample could be made with available color in correct material quality.
Every shoe design has its characteristics. Color and form are the most common attributes that comes to mind but ornaments can bring an extra level of detail and sophistication and complement your design. THE K HANDMADE FAMILY FACTORY helps to create the accessories that will make your shoe stand out. Working with metal and plastics, we can prototype the ornament of your choice.
